Fail Luck

Post by Madcow »

"Terrible luck makes for such unsatisfying duels.."

Not sure if that is the exact quote, but oh well, its always true. I have tons of these "oh if" situations, the one that currently makes me ache the most is this one : this guy had six mana and 1 shield. I have two creatures stacked up already and summon 2 pyro to finish him off, (Since valiant spark,(seen in mana) wouldn't be meta-morphed) The shield triggers(naturally) to soulswap, he swaps in Skysword and guess what the stalling shield was... Valiant Spark !! That guy had a ball of a time LOLing because, I eventually lost, and my rage face didn't dissipate for a few hours (Yes I was pissed off even off the PC). I also recall hitting a 3x Soulswap-Trigger-Skysword Chain with Prince of Light when he had only one shield left. It was funny, yes, but still annoying >.<, Hell I recall a lot of things, and it doesn't stop

Nothing like losing to triggers that makes you fucking rage.

Triggers are the main cause of this.

Once I had a field full of Dragons and my opponent has a field full of creatures. We were both able to todomeda each other, but it was my turn, so I started attacking...only to hit Super Spark. The next turn, I lost.
If you address me by one name, let it be "Blitzer" and not "Romanoff". All of my usernames in internet places over the years use "Blitzer". Except the WotC website, I go by "Axelle" there.

Good i guess xD my vanguard spirit yesterday was off-the-chart.

I was dueling a guy from a team and then i healed on 6th damage (not surprising i know) but what it was surprising was my next turn. I rided a G3 (the police guy) and attacked just 2 twin drive 2 heals.... And later when we rematched i did the police combo and score a critical in the twin drive xD 3 damage ftw! :P

Ok now Dm related... i know everione hates triggers and all but imo i love them xD on either side... i think its the unknown part of the duel that makes me glad and all ^^

Oh yeah, don't you hate it when you have no blockers and no shields and you're playing against a deck that can bust out a speed attacker at any moment?

Or when you're playing a rush deck, you have low shields, feel safe, attack your opponent's shields, then hit several shield trigger creatures that kill you next turn?

Yeah, but in any case, it's an awesome quote and a good topic idea. We should seriously move all this stuff away from spam, like wtf?

Anyway, man, stuff like these really don't come up in my mind much. It's not repressing, I guess I just have a weird memory like this, and again, not playing much.

I can't really say when I should or shouldn't have gotten something, except the obvious "come on, a Fists!" and stuff like that, which is probably more demands and stuff, lol.

Where it actually hits me however, is when I want to try out a new deck or idea, especially since I try a lot of roundabout stuff or weird synergy engines or over-focusing, and I actually do have sort of a jinx, wherein Murphy's law applies to me the first times I try it out a lot, so then I get really frustrated and start doubting it and such, and just drop it for a good portion of time.

So I guess that my bad luck comes mostly in deckmatchups and natural enemies and such, as opposed to that much in the actual flow. I probably consider not getting the "OMG AWESOME" I am aiming for out in the duel, especially test duels as "fail luck" too, but that's too biased I guess.

So anyway, that's me.

Heh.

Yeah, triggers are the main cause of this, but fortunately for me, it seems I am fine with my style adopting direct Trigger countermeasures. I like to punish people for that. So, generally I use shield burn (my preferred way of finishing/handling shields) or a trigger lockdown or just a general lockdown, or at least anti-removal methods.

Trigger creatures are probably the most annoying for me too I guess, because I play field based strategies, so yeah, heh. Especially Aqua Surfer! Even if I love him so, his presence in a duel frustrates me, even if there isn't a reasonable chance of him triggering.

It's probably what worries me most about full JP too...

Except ofc the "give ST effects" which are just <,<...I just tend to assume the absolute worst for them, lol.

Anyway, that's all.
