Poetas

Post by Thenarius »

Soul’s light dawns on me
And my Eyes open, awake at last
You come into my view
My savior, who has awakened me.

Your sleeping beauty sleeps no more;
In full force now I advance.
You don’t pull back as I draw near
And tenderly stroke your cheek.

Oh, lover mine, how long have you waited?
Kiss me now; forget all else.

Graven

My lover had the right of it -
what good is it to feel?

My beauty shall be etched forever in marble
For ice is not permanent
though it is beautiful,
it melts,
and fades away.

I cannot bear the thought
of fading away

So carve me out of stone,
make me out of marble,
impenetrable and indestructible
unfeeling and untouchable
and ever-beautiful.

oranges & cinnamon

Post by Thenarius »

Let me rest my head upon your chest
and listen to you
breathe

My beloved, you smell of oranges and cinnamon

There is a dull warmth inside of you
Of summertime
fading, lazily
into autumn.

I am reminded of my fear of August.

I gaze into --
the shadows on your face, your body lit from behind by the sunset.

Psalm 84

Post by Thenarius »

Wandering through the barren valley
I came across some willows weeping
Somehow rain has found its way down here
And the cracked earth beneath my feet
Has opened up in thirst, and filled with pools
Of water to nourish them

The icy dawn atop the mountain
Reminds me of what I am
I do not remember how I came to be here
yet I know I must have climbed.

So have I struggled through darkness and bramble
for one shining moment of clarity
to see myself reflected for one morning
in the pool of icemelt up here.

--

"Is it worth it?"
Who is left to ask the question?
The Sun is busy atop the mountain
And I am busy at rest

No darkness can penetrate this sanctum
No demon can snatch away this gift.

--

Even up here,
the One-Who-Is
is still above me;
but I am at peace.

O, God-within-me,
remind me to fight
The cold and icy dawn
Reminds me of my name.

--

every day I aspire
to scramble back
up to this place

even if it means
climbing back up
when I fall off
in the night.

XIV - Temperance

Post by Thenarius »

The Eyes atop the icy mount at dawn their wings unfurl
To shine all-bright in raising up the sun above the world
And the gaze of every man is fixed upon this truth:
That light and life and liberty shall never be subdued.

Yet the dark silt-river must at ends flow back to me,
make me aware once more of my brittle humanity
all I know are my failings I bring forth every day
yet out of darkness comes the light, by "fiat" did He say.

Ne me fais plus souvenir
à tous mes méfaits
et mes erreurs.

Je t'approche
et tout d'un coup j'ai peur
car tu me sembles dangereux

comme un feu.

Tu me fais brûler
de désir
d'angoisse
d'espoir

désespoir.

Je ne sais plus rien
je ne sens plus rien.

Réponds-moi
dis-moi,
m’entends-tu

ou pas ?

A joy beyond all else
to know that all is well

to see lies by truth dispelled
to see light conquer hell

in the simplicity of serenity
in the hope that love provides.

God has won the night for us
now let us see what daybreak brings.

Verbum caro

Post by Thenarius »

A candle burns dimly in the darkness of the chapel
the radiance of the monstrance somehow outshines it
yet my eyes will not perceive this truth
and over the Sacrament I see a shadow
The monstrance serves to show Him
but I see only a veil.

A body veiled in apparition of bread
Beaten, bloodied, beatified
Why can’t I see it?

The lights are on in the chapel down the road
where the crucifix is carved in wood,
not plaster,
where all are free to gather openly
but must whisper their truths
and lie about their lovers.

Why can’t I let it be so for me?
Where I could have some certainty
light to see by
to discern His Body.

In this, my chapel, it is still dark
and just as my eyes strain to see
His Body in the bread,
the last candle left burning
strains to uphold the burden
of illuminating this space
its light is spread too thin.

Yet the monstrance aids it;
it reflects the candlelight
a fire burns around the host.

A rush of wind, a still small voice
comes to whisper to me
“I uphold the last candle;
it gets its light from me,
and gives it back to me
that I may make it brighter.”
I respond:
“But why must it burn alone in the darkness?”

A gentle breeze,
rustling windchimes,
“It is not alone,
I am here beside it.”

It seems funny to me
that I must answer like the storm.

“So then where are you?
Are you there, in the bread?
Are you there, in the light?
Are you there, in the darkness?”

Now I hear no response,
locked on my knees in prayer,
but I know what has been given for me
and what I must take, receive, and believe in,
even in darkness,
the promise of the dim monstrance
in this, my shrouded chapel

for I too am a candle set
to uphold the gentle light in the darkness.

Ni amour,
ni beauté,
ni rien sans Toi,

pas de justice
pas d'importance
et pas de joie pour moi.
